1. Summary
This
product bulletin announces the availability of the FAS6080, FAS6040, V6080, and V6040
products for First Customer Ship. The products will ship in December contingent with
the release of Data ONTAP® 7.2.4.
The
refreshed FAS and V-Series 6000 platforms offer enhancements in performance,
scalability,
and updated onboard 4Gb FC ports. The FAS/V6040 and FAS/V6080 are supported
on Data ONTAP 7.2.4.

What’s New?
The FAS/V6080 includes updated processors,
4Gb onboard FC ports, additional spindle/storage-array-LUN support to a max
of 1,176, with a
capacity at FCS of 1176TB. The FAS6080 will also support 504 spindles in MetroCluster configurations
while the V6080 will support 1,176 storage array LUNs in MetroCluster configurations.
The FAS/V6040 systems include
4Gb onboard FC ports, spindle/LUN support to a max of 840, with a
capacity at FCS of 840TB. In MetroCluster configurations the FAS6040
will support 504 spindles while the V6040 will support 840 storage array
LUNs.
Additional SAN target ports (max 32) for
the FAS/V6040 and FAS/V6080 will be available with Data ONTAP 7.3, which is
scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2008.

The
pricing for the FAS/V6080 and FAS/V6040 controllers is lower than the current
FAS/V6070 and FAS/V6030. Please refer to the December 2007 price list.
In
addition to this there have been S/W price reductions on SnapMirror® and SnapVault® secondary and
protocols.

System Requirements
Supported platforms:
FAS6040, FAS6080, V6040, and V6080 systems require Data ONTAP 7.2.4. Earlier versions of
Data ONTAP
will not run on FAS or V-Series 6040/6080 platforms.

Product Availability
The FAS6040/6080 and
V6040/6080 series platforms begin shipping in December 2007.

Regulatory Compliance
Products need to be validated against the NetApp Safety/EMI
Regulatory Compliance List prior to order submission. The list is available
at PartnerCenter
Compliance Information. This is required to ensure that products are
being sold only in the countries in which NetApp has received regulatory
compliance certification.
8.
Warranty and Service
The FAS6080 active-active models are offered with Support
Edge Premium included, as are the current FAS6070 active-active models.
All other models will have configurable services as
before.
